Dirk Zane Birch, arrested in Lebanon on Nov. 14 for first-degreeonline sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor, has beenconvicted and sentenced on one of the charges.
Birch, 24, pleaded guilty in Linn County Circuit Court on Jan. 11to first-degree online sexual corruption of a child. He wassentenced the same day to 90 days in jail, followed by supervisedprobation for 36 months, and payment of fees and fines amounting to$142.
The probation carries these conditions: no contact with thevictim and her family, no unsupervised contact with minors, and nofrequenting of places designed for the primary use of minors, suchas playgrounds, schools and child care centers. He also mustcomplete a sex offender evaluation program and any recommendedtreatment programs, and register as a sex offender.

The second charge, luring a minor, was dismissed by Judge James C.Egan.
Birch was represented by a court-appointed attorney, Keith J.Rohrbough. The prosecutor was Reed E. Dinsmore.
At the time of Birch’s arrest, Lebanon police Detective Sgt. FrankStevenson said he texted an 11-year-old female with an invitationfor sex. The girl’s mother told police her daughter was receivinginappropriate text messages. Police investigated and arrested Birchthe same afternoon.
